Down On The Farm

In his long recording career, Jason Ringenberg has established himself as one of the pioneers of alternative country music (Jason and the Scorchers). More recently, he's taken on the guise of kids' music troubadour Farmer Jason, and his 2003 release "A Day at the Farm with Farmer Jason" featured songs and stories about chickens, tractors, cows and hogs. Ringenberg follows that effort, which has just been reissued, with "Rockin' in the Forest with Farmer Jason" (Lionsgate/Courageous Chicken/Kid Rhino). Maybe it's because of his past playing to rowdy rockers, but Ringenberg has a knack for getting kids' attention with tunes such as "Punk Rock Skunk" and "Opossum in a Pocket. " Both CDs are highly entertaining and even educational for citybound kids.
