The kid-friendly universe inhabited by country-punk hero Jason Ringenberg gets bigger, weirder, and more stylish by the disc. On his first outing, Ringenberg's overall-wearing alter-ego, Farmer Jason, stuck close to the barnyard; A Day at the Farm with Farmer Jason boasted such boot-stompers as "The Tractor Goes Chug Chug" and "A Guitar Pickin' Chicken" - obsessively rural fun. Rockin' in the Forest, in contrast, ditches the hoes and hayrides in favor of branching out. Instead of "He's a Hog Hog Hog," we get such wilderness-themed joints as "Punk Rock Skunk," an energetic examination of a leather-jacketed stinker who can't stop belting a Ramones anthem, and "Ode to a Toad," a solemn celebration of a puff-cheeked beast set to a tune from an old-time Mexican saloon. Catfish, squirrels, opossums, and the occasional moose also wander into the picture-proof not only that untamed creatures don't cramp Farmer Jason's style but also that, for all his aw-shucks simplicity, he's no one-trick musical pony. Incorporating jazz, bluegrass, Burt Bacharach-style horns, ouds, and fiddles, Farmer Jason scatters country across his disc like seeds - and there's never a shortage of sunshine.

The Tilling Troubadour does it again -
"Farmer" Jason Ringenberg's sophomore release continues his winning streak of music for the whole family, from the contagious "Punk Rock Skunk" and its "hey ho, let's go" refrain, to "Arrowhead," one of the finest songs of Ringenberg's storied career. This record bubbles over with wit, heart and the pure, guile-free joy of playing music, singing along, dancing along, and trying to find your wayward moose. Listen to this disc with your kids and dare them to knock the smile off your face. Heck, turn it up if you're a double-digit, too.

Good Natured Rockin' Fun for kids
Jason Ringenberg has done it again! 'Farmer Jason', his alter ego has been entertaining kids around country with family oriented shows for some time now and the video and LP here with him has been in the works for a while. My favorite here is: 'He's A Moose on the Loose', the duet with Todd Snider. The former lead frontman for the terribly underrated Jason & The Scorchers is back and your kids will love it! Hope you do too.
